Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • An individual may only be listed as the sponsoring author on a single scientific abstract, and this is independent of their order of authorship.
  • All submitted abstracts will be reviewed for poster presentations, and from these, the Scientific Program Committee will select a number for oral presentations. Those who are chosen for an oral presentation will also receive an invitation to present a poster.
  • Those submitting abstracts are obliged to disclose all potential conflicts of interest. This includes any financial gain that could be realised from the submitted work, whether in cash or in-kind. The BCI Society requires authors to disclose all actual or perceived conflicts of interest. In addition, any financial support received from commercial organisations in connection with the work must be clearly stated. The author must declare such conflicts at the time of abstract submission.
  • There is a registration requirement for sponsor authors. To have their abstract included in the final program, sponsor authors must complete their registration for the Meeting.

Abstract Submission Process

Submission Format for Abstracts:

  • Abstract Title: The title should be a maximum of 225 characters, including spaces.
  • Authors and Affiliations: Clearly list the names of authors and their respective affiliations.
  • Abstract Length and Content: Your abstract should not exceed one US letter-sized page. This includes a margin of 2 cm at the top and bottom and 2.5 cm on the left and right sides. You may include one figure within the page limit, but please note that both figures and references count towards this limit.
  • Content Requirements: The abstract must succinctly describe the work conducted, the findings, and their significance.
  • PDF Submission: Authors are required to upload a PDF version of their abstract. This will aid in the review process and subsequent distribution.

Important Notice: The submitted PDF will be published as-is in the abstract book, which will be accessible to the public. It is essential to verify all information for accuracy and adherence to the specified format before submission.

During the submission process, submitters should indicate if:

  1. They would like their abstract to be considered for an oral presentation
  2. They would like to apply for a Student Travel Award

Late submission: Subject to space availability, a limited number of poster slots may be open for late submissions. The official call for these slots will be announced in April 2025.
