The Society encourages all members to help advance the BCI Society by taking an active role on a committee. If you are interested, please contact the appropriate committee for further information.

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee represents the BCI Society membership and acts as an independent entity that oversees the Society’s financial statements, including integrity and compliance with accounting policies.  The committee reviews and approves the annual financial statements prior to their presentation at the BCI Society General Assembly.

Awards Committee

The committee’s mandate is to acknowledge the contributions of Society members to the field, and to promote and facilitate the submission of high-quality nominations to the Society awards. The Awards Committee is responsible for administering the awards, including developing criteria for the awards, overseeing the selection process and the awards ceremony.

Committee Initiative

BCI Society Early Career Award
The award acknowledges active members of the BCI Society who earned terminal degree (MD or PhD) within the last ten years and have a history of scholarly work that has advanced the field.  For more info, click here

Bylaws Committee

The committee purpose is to assess and recommend changes to the Bylaws that are consistent with the Society’s overall mission and purpose.

Communications Committee

The committee serves to coordinate communications between the BCI Society, its membership, and the public on matters central to the Society’s vision and mission. The committee advises the board on developing and executing a communication strategy consistent with the Society’s values and priority goals as well as administering and overseeing the website and other Society related electronic/print communications including social media and newsletters.

Committee Initiatives

Newsletter
To better inform the Society members about the activities of the Board and the different committees, and about topics of general interest to Society members, the Communications Committee develops Newsletters. Newsletters are scheduled to appear twice per year. 

Affiliated events
Events may include conferences, workshops, BCI hackathons, symposia, summer/winter schools, and other major activities focused on BCIs. The BCI Society offers three levels of endorsement.  For more info, click here

The mandate of the committee is to assist the Society in the planning, coordination and implementation of all fundraising activities in support of the projects and activities of the society.  We would like to thank those of you who have partnered with the society in the past and look forward to continuing our relationship.  We also welcome new organizations and are excited about creating a collaborative partnership with you.

Postdoc and Student Committee

The Postdoc and Student Committee represents the trainees of the BCI Society. Its goals are to organize professional development activities for students and postdocs, including virtual seminars with BCI experts, ad-hoc networking opportunities based on research interests, and international collaborations between trainees. The committee was formed through a recent call for participation to all student and postdoc Society members, which received an outstanding response from the community, reinforcing the timeliness of this effort.
