The Bloorview Research Institute at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital invite applications for a scientist in the field of brain computer interface (BCI).
The successful candidate will lead a stellar program of research with a focus on development, and children and youth with disabilities and developmental differences, and their families. The individual will be responsible for securing competitive research funding, attracting, and training top-notch graduate students, publishing high impact journal articles and leading knowledge translation activities. The scientist is expected to interface seamlessly with clinical and research teams at Holland Bloorview.
Candidates must have: a PhD in a related field, and a proven record of accomplishments in BCI including core technical expertise encompassing mental task paradigms and associated experimental designs for eliciting specific brain signals, different modalities for interrogating the developing brain, advanced neural signal processing, application and evaluation of machine learning algorithms, deep learning architectures and cognate training approaches, biomedical instrumentation especially neural activity sensors, and image processing. Demonstrated innovation in research and a promising track record of scholarship are also required. Post-doctoral training or equivalent is preferred. Experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
Candidates must be eligible for an appointment in a cognate department/institute at the University of Toronto.
Competencies required include: ability to formulate and lead an innovative, research program in BCI and; superb scientific writing abilities and proficiency with writing journal articles; ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams in an interdisciplinary academic environment, ability to effectively communicate with clinicians and faculty of diverse backgrounds; strong grasp of emerging knowledge translation practices; compelling potential to contribute to evidence-based practice and best-practice guidelines; exemplary mentorship skills with potential to train the next generation of innovative scientists; excellent teaching and presentation skills; and proven analytical skills and critical thinking.
